The School Board
Chaired by the headmaster, the School Board deals with the educational, pedagogical and material concerns of the school. It adopts the school project, the internal rules, the school timetable and calendar, the annual educational plan and the on-going training of school staff.
The School Board comprises 15 members with voting rights, divided into 3 separate departments: 5 members from the admin department, 5 school staff and 5 parents and students.
Members holding a consultative vote are also invited to attend: the French Consul, Consular Advisors, two representatives of the Association Gestionnaire and the Attachée de Coopération et d’Action Culturelle.

The school council
Our warm thanks to those parents elected to the school council and Board, who give much of their time voluntarily. They make up the Amicale des parents de l’École du Nord (AEN), bringing their skills and experience on a range of coeducational issues, both in official bodies and on consultative committees. The Management would like to thank them for their contribution and involvement alongside the teachers and management team.
The school council is set up in all schools offering 1st level education (from kindergarten to Year 6). Chaired by the school headmaster, the school council is involved in all matters relating to the running of the school, especially:
- Educational structures
- The preparation of the school timetable and calendar
- “The school project” following the teachers’ council
- Specific actions to ensure better use of the resources allocated to the school as well as their seamless adaptation to the school environment
- The conditions to allow the schooling of students with special educational needs, taking local constraints into consideration
- The implementation of discovery & exploration classes
- Issues relating to students’ hygiene, health and safety at school and during extra-curricular activities
- The relevant approach to selecting teaching materials and tools
- Welcoming and informing parents as well as making the necessary arrangements to involve them in school life

Welcoming student representatives, the school management, teachers and parents, representative councils are a special opportunity for students to be involved in school life. They discuss constructive proposals; they debate, argue, define and take action.
The disciplinary Board
This is a body that can impose disciplinary actions on a student having committed a serious offence, for example an act of physical or verbal violence against a member of the teaching staff or another student.

The Commissions
The Commissions team help prepare the agenda of the AEN Committee.
They work with the school’s management team to evaluate current issues and offer guidance in situations overseen by the AEN. The Commissions welcome volunteer parents with valuable expertise: Architects, Chartered Accountants, Lawyers, HR Managers, CEOs, etc. EDN’s management team holds two votes on the AEN Committee.
Similarly, the AEN holds two consultative votes on the School Board.
Hygiene, safety, health and citizenship education committee
It plans the preventive and educational activities that will be organised from kindergarten to Year 10. It welcomes the school’s management team, the safety officer as well as a few students, parents and teachers. It visits and inspects at-risk areas (science laboratories, sports facilities, kitchen, recent refurbishments), analyses the results of fire drills and raises safety concerns. It also suggests ways of improving students’ working conditions.
AEN representative: Sanjeev MADHOU
Menu committee
This group brings together parents and members of the management team, with a view to improving students’ lunchtime conditions. It emphasises the importance of eating quality and balanced meals and encourages the development of a food culture. It is this committee that launched the new school restaurant!
Transport committee
Without impacting the direct contractual relationship between parents and transport companies, the objective of this committee is to improve the safety of school transport. It has drafted the Transport Charter, which sets out transport companies’ obligations, organises bus inspections with the Management and builds a safer transport system.
ADN representatives: Sophie HUBLER, Jean-Paul CELLURA

This committee helps define the relevant policy for extracurricular activities (timetable, type of activities, safety, etc.).
Uniforms commission
It guides parents on the different items of clothing making up the uniform, the different models to choose from, the greatest quality and best value for money, etc.
